I am Alaina the owner and crafter of this loving Philadelphia-based small business. As the granddaughter of a seamstress, sewing has always been in my blood, so in 2023 I decided to share my work and joy with the world. What We Offer…
Cat Kickers
Our best selling item! Your cat will go crazy for this catnip filled kicker. Our kickers are reusable – once the catnip loses potency, just open it up and add more!
Tote Bags
Tote bags are made in various styles, but also available in custom colors, sizes, patterns, etc. Prices vary.
Towel Shorts
Our towel shorts are perfect as a swimsuit cover up, loungewear, or tailgating shorts. GO BIRDS! Available in XS, S, M, L, and XL.
Extracts
Homemade vanilla, almond, and maple extracts are available for purchase every year at the Archbishop Wood Craft Show. All extracts have been aged 11+ months!

Do you have a physical store?
Although we do not have a brick and mortar location, you can often find us at local craft fairs and other in-person events. To stay up-to-date, follow us on Instagram @EllisByDesign.
Is this your full-time job?
Nope! While I feel blessed and excited to share my talents with you all, my “day job” is as an elementary school counselor in Philadelphia. I am also a photographer for engagements, graduations and special events, which you can follow at @lainaellisphotos.
What actions do you take toward sustainability?
I thoughtfully and proudly source craft materials, including recycled and thrifted fabrics, stuffing and zippers. I also continuously improve product design based on customer feedback, with sustainability in mind. For example, we updated the design of our best-selling cat-nip kickers to be refillable/reusable.
